NOTES MADE AFTER THE EVENT

Legs always bending rather than straightening.

This means breaking at the leg joints: hips, knees, ankles.

Hips release by pressing middle fingers into joint of hip close to groin.

This rocks the pelvis back a touch (without inclining forwards).

And releases the tail behind:
A sense of mischief, lightness, an active spirit: Charlie Chaplin.

Knees release forwards, up and out.

The knees of the heart.

The ankles release back and down, digging the heels in.

Legs should feel so relaxed that if they release just a tad more you’d collapse.

Living on the (dangerous) edge rather than in the (comfortable) middle: Single-weightedness.

Sinking into the outside edge of the foot, pressing big toe into ground and letting instep rise.

Sinking into the Earth rather than onto it.

Bouncing on one leg to make elastic.

Move from left to right by bending the right leg rather than by straightening the left.

Helps differentiate spirit and body.

Sumo posture: legs spread, deep, slight incline forward so belly falls over the belt.

Relax the belly (dantien).
Feel gravity pulling at the belly.
Imagine an ape almost on all-fours, or Neanderthal man.

Bound to the Earth, no thoughts, no ideas.

Then feel each person/object pulling you.

And feel your own contraction into the dantien to balance that.

Sink low enough for headtop to be beneath natural height of third eye.

Don’t worry if the bum protrudes.

Sunk mud walking: extend leg & let foot hover an inch above ground for a second before placing it.

Crouch to extend the spirit.

Feel as though you’re under a table.
