Of all the poets I've seen read (over 50 of em) this guy did it best. And that includes Bob Cobbing, Bill Griffiths, Eric Mottram, Dom Sylvester Houedard, Henri Chopin, Maggie O'Sullivan, Ken Edwards, Robert Sheppard, Allen Fisher, Jerome Rothenberg and Jackson Mac Low. Pickard was just a better natural communicator with a bigger heart and a stronger spirit. It always used to amaze me that the poets I knew never practised reading their work in preparation for having to perform it. The one thing that would have actively improved their humanity – learning how to project their spirit into the hearts of those physically present – they seemed passively loathe to do.

Yes, I love Pickard's readings too. I've a couple of cassettes of readings from from the late '70s which I will have to dig out again.
