For most of the twenty three years that I studied with my teacher I lived on the Lower Clapton Road in Hackney – a veritable hovel in a veritable hell (since gentrified of course). If ever I complained to my teacher about it he would quote the Dao De Jing:
In dwelling, think it a good place to be, which, if you think about it, is a good retort to all complaint, as is one of his own phrases:
All is energy and everything is in its rightful place.
