The processes that keep each of us together as rational socially well-behaved individuals are precisely the forces that keep us disconnected from our true internal nature; and therefore disconnected from everything essential.

Do you mean processes like being kind or thoughtful or courteous? You'd like Manchester then - none of that, just lots of folk braying and throwing empty bottles at each other, not at all rational or well-behaved.
I'm from Manchester and my mother still lives there, so I of course know what you mean!
The processes I was referring to are the ones that keep our energy locked inside. The ones that are driven into us as soon as we are old enough to be capable of misbehaviour.
